Sources: the StyleCraft Instinct product page and the StyleCraft Instinct Metal product page. These are the company’s published figures. StyleCraft rates the noise level of both as moderate and says the blade can be zero-gapped. See how to zero-gap clipper blades for the risks, since Wahl’s own guidance does not describe a zero setting.

The Motor and Blades, According to StyleCraft

Both pages describe the same IN2 Vector motor. StyleCraft says it idles at 8,500 RPM and speeds up to 11,500 RPM when it meets resistance, and on the Metal page it says the motor has over 10,000 hours of life. That is a company claim we cannot check.

The blade set is also the same on both: a fixed black DLC (diamond-like carbon) Faper blade with a Slim Deep Tooth cutter. StyleCraft says this pairing is made for blending, fading and bulk removal, that the blades stay sharper longer and run cooler, and that they will not rust. It also says the blade can be zero-gapped. Zero-gapping brings the blades very close together and carries risks, so read our zero-gap guide first.

What Is in the Box

Per StyleCraft, both include eight magnetic guards (#0 at 1/16 inch up to #6 at 3/4 inch), a charging stand with a cord, a stretch bracket, a blade cover, a cleaning and maintenance kit and a mini screwdriver. Both list modular body parts: three levers and three interchangeable lids on the Metal page, and three housing options with click or floating taper levers on the plastic Instinct page. Charging is by micro-USB on both, which is an older port type than USB-C, so check that you have the right cable.

Instinct or Instinct Metal?

If StyleCraft’s figures hold, the choice comes down to the body, since the motor, blades, runtime and guards match. The plastic Instinct is listed at 0.50 lb and the Metal at 0.65 lb. The Metal page says the metal body absorbs vibration and runs quieter, but StyleCraft rates the noise of both as moderate, so do not expect a quiet clipper from either. The Metal lists at $299.95 against $269.95 for the plastic model, a $30 gap on the maker’s site as of October 12, 2026.

  • Pick the plastic Instinct if you want the lighter tool and the lower list price.
  • Pick the Metal if you want a more solid feel and care about vibration, and the extra weight and cost are fine.
  • If a quiet clipper is the goal for either, look at our quietest cordless clippers guide instead.

Questions to Ask Before Buying

  • Is the seller StyleCraft or an authorized seller? The one-year warranty on both pages is the maker’s, so check what a marketplace seller covers.
  • Is the runtime enough? StyleCraft says up to 2 hours, and that it varies with torque use. A full day of back-to-back clients may need a second tool.
  • Do you need the guards? Eight are included, but if you cut longer styles you may need more.
  • What is the return window? StyleCraft lists its own terms for direct purchases, and other sellers set theirs.

What YouTube Viewers Say

We read public comments under a review of a related StyleCraft clipper from a channel that works with Gamma+, so the audience may lean toward the brand. Viewers asked how heavy the Instinct Metal is, and others said they expected a high-priced StyleCraft tool to be zero-gapped out of the box. In comments under other brands’ reviews, one viewer said a StyleCraft clipper runs quieter than the Andis Master Cordless. Take these as anecdotes, since we cannot check them.

Runtime and Price Context

Runtime is where cordless clippers differ most on paper. StyleCraft lists up to 2 hours for both Instinct models. For comparison, Wahl lists up to 100 minutes for the Magic Clip and 80 minutes for the 5 Star Cordless Senior, and Andis lists up to 90 minutes for the Master Cordless Black Label and up to 2 hours for the reVITE. These are maker figures read on October 13, 2026 and real runtime varies with how hard you load the motor.

On price, the Instinct models list at $269.95 and $299.95 on StyleCraft’s site, while the Magic Clip page lists $119.99 and the reVITE $149.99. The difference is large, so decide whether the Instinct features justify the premium for how you cut.
