What Actually Differs
- Color and finish. The Ghost is white with a matte finish. The Onyx is described as having a plastic housing with a stainless steel blade.
- The screen. JRL says the Ghost’s matte finish can make the LED screen look dimmer in some lighting and that performance is not affected.
- Weight on the page. JRL lists 12.7 oz for the Onyx. We did not find a weight on the Ghost page.
- Marketing language. JRL describes the Ghost as “whisper-quiet” and the Onyx as “ultra-quiet.” These are maker claims.
Which One Fits You
- Black Onyx: if you want the version with a listed weight and the original look.
- White Ghost: if the white finish matters for your station and you are fine with a dimmer-looking screen in some light.
- Either one: if you want a quiet-positioned, dual-speed cordless clipper with a 5-hour listed runtime.

What to Check Before You Buy
- Match the model name. The Ghost is listed as the 2020C Ghost, the Onyx as the Onyx Professional Cordless Clipper.
- JRL’s pages say orders ship two weeks from purchase. Check shipping if you buy direct.
- Check the seller. JRL’s warranty applies to units bought new from JRL or an authorized seller.
- Replacement blades: JRL says the Onyx Fade blade is interchangeable with most pro clipper brands.
